Mike has extensive experience in banking, where he advises banks and bank holding companies concerning various matters including de novo charters, mergers and acquisitions, branching, regulatory compliance, and mortgage brokerage. He also advises closely held businesses and their shareholders in all aspects, from formation and operation to succession.  Mike also has extensive experience in trusts and estate planning, where he advises individuals concerning wills and trusts and federal and state taxation of estates.  He is also experienced in advising corporate and individual executors and administrators of estates and trusts and their beneficiaries.

Mike has over 30 years of experience representing individuals and business entities in a wide range of commercial disputes, including breach of contract, trade secret and restrictive covenant litigation, as well as a variety of emergency and other injunctive relief proceedings, both at the trial level and in the Appellate Court. He also handles construction litigation, in both the public and private sectors, involving mechanic’s lien claims, as well as drafting and reviewing construction contracts. Mike vigorously defends legal malpractice claims on behalf of attorneys. Mike also represents employers facing claims by employees based on of disability, discrimination, sexual harassment and retaliation matters and has been engaged in proceedings in the United States District Court and before state and federal governmental agencies, including the Cook County Commissioner on Human Rights, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Illinois Department of Labor. Mike is also an active member of theChicago Bar Association and was on the Board of Managers (2000-2002) and the Judicial Evaluation Committee where he served as General Chair, and is currently a member of the CBA Pro Bono General Counsel Committee, the Interfaith Committee, Chair of the Judicial Appellate Review Committee and a member of the CBA Finance Committee.
